“Finally, the 90s weren’t simple times. They were just simple for you. You were a kid. The biggest choice you had to make was which cartoon you wanted to watch.” —

Culby - Probably Brilliant

Why, oh why, am I having a hard time choosing a movie I've never seen on instant Netflix over watching Dirty Rotten Scoundrels for the 500th time??

(I can’t help it, I love that movie.)

Our text conversation
  • Me: Jessie just texted me. She got out of surgery okay. She's going to let me know if she needs anything.
  • Mom: K
  • Me: Do you want that vacuum I've had for a while? The cone filter one?
  • Mom:
  • Me: You didn't write anything.
  • Mom:
  • Me: Still nothing.

There are two things my mom will text back.

Either just a “K” as a response, or just a blank one if she tries anything more difficult.

Hey, Dan, take it from Johnny: You don't know beans about Detroit → foxsportsdetroit.com

Inge has not read Shaughnessy’s column, nor is he likely to. But he disagrees with his assessment of the city.

“For one, anyone who’s going to knock another city is one of two things — one, ignorant, and two, very insecure,” Inge said. “Because what do you have to knock someone else’s city for? If you don’t like it, don’t come here. The thing is, most people have no idea what it has to offer. There’s bad parts in any city. I could go and I could find a bad part in Boston. I’ve lived there, too. You could find a bad part in New York. It doesn’t make any difference.

“The thing that means the most for me, the people of Michigan, the organization and the fan base for the Tigers are unbelievable. I’ve never met nicer people in my life, never met more down-to-earth people in my life, and you’ve got a 100-year-old organization who has some of the most loyal fans in the game of baseball.”

Once again, Brandon Inge has won my heart.

“That’s the thing that people everywhere are going to think of. They’re going to think of Boston as this great city, which it is, and Detroit gets a bad rap,” Damon said. “I love it here. My family loves it here. A bunch of the players that have been here a while love it here. The new guys love it here. There’s a lot to offer here. Yeah, we know the auto industry and the economy takes a beating here. But you know what? It’s up to us players to keep people excited, to entertain people, to have people enjoy their lives and have people enjoy watching the Detroit Tigers.” —

Good guy.

Okay, he’s not so bad.
